We’re not talking about Soylent, which is the company’s take on a supplement, or Soylents, which are soy-based versions of other products.
Instead, we’re talking about products like soy milk and soy products.
The idea behind Soylens is to provide women with all the benefits of a natural, dairy-free, soy-free diet while minimizing the risks of consuming cow’s milk, and it’s a pretty simple concept.
“Soy products have been used for hundreds of years, but we haven’t really taken them to the next level,” said Lisa McLeod, senior science officer for soy at the National Center for Science Education (NCSE).
“It’s really easy to get a sense of the benefits when you see that there are no lactose, no gluten, no artificial flavors, no preservatives and no soy lecithin, which makes them super nutritious.”
So why is soy milk so special?
“If you think about it, we can’t have any dairy or egg products in our food.
We have to have the best ingredients possible,” said McLeod.
“There are a few dairy alternatives that we can use, but soy milk is a really great option because it’s so cheap.”
The soy milk you buy is made from soybeans, but most of it is made up of soy protein isolate, or “soy.”
The soymilk is pasteurized, which means the proteins in the soybean go through a process that kills bacteria that could be causing health problems.
“We’re very lucky that there aren’t too many harmful bacteria in soy milk, which allows us to get this really great protein without any other issues,” McLeod said.
The Soylends also contain all the ingredients that make milk taste like soy and are free of gluten, and they come in a variety of flavors.
“The flavors vary from soy milk to soy butter, so the options are endless,” McLean said.
In a perfect world, a diet would include soy milk all the time.
But, there are a number of ways to avoid soy products if you’re trying to maintain a healthy diet, and the Soylend’s low price points have helped keep it affordable for many.
“If we can get people to use soy milk more, I think we can have a significant impact on the health of the population,” McLear said.
But if you want to try a different kind of Soylender, you can use it in conjunction with soy milk for the best results.
“It can be as simple as using the soy milk in place of soy lard or as a dairy-based substitute, like soy butter or soy cheese, but the key is just making sure you get the right balance of all of those ingredients,” McGlone said.
So, if you have a friend or loved one with dairy allergies, you should definitely consider making them soy milk substitutes.
“If you’ve never tried soy milk before, it’s very simple to put it in place and see how you feel,” McLeary said.
“But if there’s a specific person in your life who’s sensitive to dairy, soy milk may be the perfect solution,” McLennedy said.
“And that’s where our expertise comes in.”
McLeod said the Soy Lend is still in its testing phase, but it has already shown promise.
“It’s a really good solution for people who are lactose intolerant and who want to be able to consume a soy-containing diet without any lactose,” McNeil said.
